On a beautiful autumn day Laura & Aaron went adventuring with me in the Byron Hinterland to get to this beautiful spot, which is a favourite of mine – Killen Falls. It’s only a short drive from Byron Bay or about an hour from the Gold Coast and you hit this magic little spot, that is essentially paradise. In summer Killen Falls is usually really busy and it’s a divine place to go for a swim to cool off. The hike down to the falls is easy and manageable for most people and it’s only about 15min. We decided to shoot their Byron Bay engagement session here in autumn as it is a lot less crowded, which makes it so much easier to move around near the actual waterfall and a more intimate experience.
The path down when we hiked it was actually super muddy after a week of lots of rain and both Laura & Aaron were absolute super stars and didn’t complain about basically having to trot through mud and muddy slopes to get down there. Definitely my kind of people – it’s all part of the experience right ? :)
Laura & Aaron have a beautiful connection that you can sense straight away. They are super chilled and love nature too. They told me about some other hikes and waterfalls that I need to check out up near Kyogle. Despite being local to the area all their life, they had never been to Killen Falls, so it was really special that I could show them another magical spot here. I love exchanging hiking tips and locations with my couples as we often share the same interests. Now I need to go Google Map searching and find some of these other beautiful hikes and waterfalls that are hidden in our local areas near Goonengerry, the back of Lismore and the rest of the Northern Rivers area. There is so much beauty around here!
Thank you for adventuring with me and letting me tell a little chapter of your love story, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year! xx
