I photographed this beautiful wedding a while ago and I am so excited to finally share it on my blog. Their stunning coastal locations reminded me so much of the Byron Bay Weddings that I am shooting at the moment. This beautiful wedding was so fun and I loved all the little details that Joanna & Richard added to their day to make it their own and meaningful to them. The wedding had some funky eclectic elements like Joanna’s amazing red velvet jacket and shoes and there were lots of wonderful surprises too both for the them and their guests! Read more below!
Richard proposed to Joanna a year before their wedding at a one of their favourite beaches. “The plan was to sit and watch a nice sunset and I would pop the question as the sun went down. Unfortunately the rocks were quite busy, and the clouds were out so there wasn’t much of a sunset. Eventually we snuck down to a quiet place and after taking around an hour to pluck up the courage, I said some nice words and got down on one knee and proposed”.
The ceremony was set up in between the trees on the property and it felt like a secret spot hidden away in a magical forest. They had some pretty epic moments happen throughout the wedding. It literally started pouring down just before their first dance was about the start. I could see the guests looking around not knowing what to expect. I ran up to Joanna & Richard and said “Just do it. Just run with it and go dance in the rain. It will be gorgeous and I can promise you the photos will be amazing”. And so they did and it’s probably one of my favourite moments from their wedding day. Seeing the worry turn into the most beautiful and crazy dance floor with the rain pouring down on the them. It was gorgeous! Oh and did I mention the flash mob that their friends and families busted out as a massive surprise – yes that happened too and in the rain!
